Measuring your dog for the perfect fit

To determine the proper size for your dog, you will need a soft measuring tape and maybe someone to assist you in holding the dog steady while you take the measurements. It is really important to measure correctly, the pictures and instructions below will help you get the exact measurement and choose the right size. Always measure twice !!

Neck measurement

Measure your dog’s neck at the place where your dog’s collar would naturally rest. This measurement is taken all the way around.

Use this measurement when your order the Safe Collar, PolyPro Collar, Polar Collar, Polar Click Collar and Half-Choke Collar.

Base of neck measurement

Measure the circle around the widest part of the neck (where the neck meets the body).

Use this measurement for the Nansen Nome Harness, Freemotion Harness, Combined Harness and Half Harness.

Back measurement

Measure your dog’s back from the nape of the neck (just ahead of the withers) to the base of the tail (where the tail joins the body). When measuring the back length it is very important that the pet is standing in normal position.

Use this measurement when your order the Alpha Pro Jacket, Long Distance Jacket, Primaloft Long Distance Jacket, Hunting Jacket, Safe Life Jacket and Amundsen Backpack.

Chest measurement

The girth (or chest) measurement is taken all the way around the widest part of your dog’s ribcage

Use this measurement for the Hunting Jacket.
